Latency, jitter, packet loss and quality estimates are useful when tied to direction, route, codec, geography and time. Averages can hide short incidents and one-way problems. Review distribution and affected call samples rather than relying on a single global score.
Routing is a quality control
Least-cost routing without quality and failure feedback can send calls toward recurring problems. Policy should include carrier performance, destination, capacity, regulatory needs and customer priority. Changes need traceability so operations can explain why a call used a route.
Resilience must be exercised
Redundant carriers, regions and SBCs create options only when health checks, failover rules, capacity and runbooks are tested. Schedule controlled exercises and confirm that monitoring, recording, security and reporting continue during recovery.
